Advantages of Jaxtr Over VoIP
Travelling when you are a Jaxtr user has many benefits over traveling with a VoIP phone. When Jaxtr is linked to your cell phone or mobile phone you know your calls will get through. One great feature of VoIP phones, on the other hand, is they follow you. The drawback is that you must have Internet access, either through wireless or a fixed connection. With Jaxtr you don’t have that requirement. There are inherent drawbacks to some VoIP phones because people cannot call them from traditional telephone systems. At this time there is no way to call my Google Talk telephone from your home phone or mobile phone.
Other VoIP phones give you a telephone number or you pay extra for a telephone number so people can call you. The first example that comes to mind is Vonage. In theory a Vonage user can be on vacation to California, the Greek Islands, or the Arctic Circle. When they plug in their Vonage router and a telephone they will be on the Vonage network and their phone will ring. I do that with my Stanaphone account, but I use a soft phone (a software phone) that rings on my laptop. My point is that VoIP follows the user. When you are plugged in to the Internet it will find you regardless of your physical location.
The benefit of Jaxtr is that your mobile phone always finds you anyway. No Internet required, and you certainly don’t need to carry a bulky router, ATA adapter, a telephone and all of your cables.
